Learn what to expect during recovery, from swelling and wound care to returning to exercise and travelling home. Your medical team provides individual instructions based on your procedure and healing.

How long is recovery?

Recovery depends on your procedure, health and individual healing. Returning to everyday activities and seeing the final result are different stages of recovery.

Your recovery plan covers care instructions, follow-up appointments and the recommended stay in Vietnam. The schedule may be adjusted as your surgeon reviews your progress.

Will I have bruising or swelling?

Swelling and bruising are common after many surgical procedures and generally improve as healing progresses. Their extent and duration vary.

Follow the care instructions for your procedure. Contact your medical team about symptoms that are new, worsening or different from what you were told to expect.

Can I shower after surgery?

Your discharge instructions explain when you can shower and how to protect your incisions, dressings or splints.

Bathing, swimming and soaking the treated area have separate restrictions. Follow your procedure-specific instructions until your medical team confirms these activities can resume.

When can I exercise again?

Activity is resumed gradually according to your procedure and healing. Gentle movement, returning to work and strenuous exercise may each have different timelines.

Follow your surgeon’s guidance on walking, lifting, gym exercise and swimming. Strenuous activity should resume only when your recovery allows and your surgeon has cleared it.

When can I fly home?

Your surgeon assesses your recovery before advising when you are fit to fly. The decision considers your procedure, follow-up needs, flight duration and individual health.

Surgery and prolonged travel can increase blood-clot risk. Keep your departure arrangements flexible and follow any airline medical-clearance requirements.

Which symptoms need medical attention?

Fever, increasing redness or warmth, unusual wound discharge, worsening pain or new swelling in one leg need prompt medical assessment. Follow the additional guidance provided for your procedure.

For chest pain, difficulty breathing, collapse or severe bleeding, seek emergency medical care immediately. Do not wait for a WhatsApp reply.

Do you offer aftercare once I return home?

Our international patient team helps coordinate follow-up communication after you return home. Medical questions and recovery concerns are referred to the treating medical team.

Your individual treatment arrangements specify the follow-up schedule and any included remote support. Photos can help with review, but some concerns require an in-person assessment by a local clinician.
