Recovery after a Mommy Makeover is different for every patient because a Mommy Makeover is not one standard operation. The recovery plan depends on the procedures performed, your health, anatomy, healing and the surgeon’s treatment plan.
This guide focuses on practical recovery and travel planning for international patients. It does not replace individual advice from the licensed surgeon responsible for your care.
Planning Recovery Before Surgery
Recovery planning should begin before surgery. A patient having breast surgery may have different activity limits and follow-up needs from someone having a tummy tuck, abdominal muscle repair or VASER liposuction.
Your medical history, the extent of surgery, whether procedures are combined or staged, and your expected support after treatment all affect the recovery plan. The surgeon provides guidance based on your individual procedure and assessment.
Arranging Childcare and Help at Home
Patients with young children should arrange practical help before treatment. Lifting, driving, preparing meals, shopping and normal household activity may be restricted depending on the procedures performed and how recovery progresses.
Tell the international patient team about your childcare and household responsibilities during consultation. This helps you plan appropriate support in Vietnam and after returning home without relying on one standard recovery timetable.
Activity and Returning to Daily Life
Walking, work, exercise and lifting restrictions vary according to the procedure combination and individual healing. A desk-based role may have different demands from work that requires standing, travel or physical activity.
Activity should be resumed according to the surgeon’s instructions. Do not use another patient’s recovery experience as your own schedule, and do not resume strenuous activity until your surgical team advises that it is appropriate.
Garments, Drains and Wound Care
Compression garments, drains or specific wound-care instructions may be used when appropriate, but they are not universal for every Mommy Makeover.
The requirements depend on the procedures performed and the surgeon’s plan. Follow the instructions provided for your own incisions, garments, drains, medications and follow-up appointments.
Planning Travel After Surgery
International patients should not assume a fixed date for flying home. Travel timing depends on the procedures performed, mobility, early recovery, follow-up findings and surgeon assessment.
Allow enough time in Vietnam for in-person assessment, treatment, early recovery and scheduled follow-up. Read the International Patient Guide before finalizing flights or accommodation.
When Procedures May Need to Be Staged
Multiple procedures are not automatically appropriate to perform during the same operation. The surgeon assesses medical history, overall health, the extent of each procedure, expected operating time and recovery demands before deciding whether procedures should be combined or staged.
If one operation would not be appropriate for your case, the surgeon may recommend a smaller combination or separate stages. You can review information about the clinic’s licensed plastic surgeons before beginning treatment planning.
